MUSIC OF “ORQUESTANDO” ARRIVES IN CULTURAYMI

Descripción

The members of “Orquestando” (EBE - Special Basic Education) by the Ministry of Education showed, during their presentation at Culturaymi, that music has therapeutic and healing effects and that the human being can surrender to the beat of a soft melody.

This band belongs to the Special Basic Education School (CEBE) San Martín de Porres and are directed by Miguel Angel Lira. They rehearse twice a week after school with the support of parents.

Virginia Mautino, the school principal, says that this bringing together of schoolchildren and music has had positive effects on children's performance. “We have seen an improvement in social skills, attention, and concentration. They identify silence, sing and, above all, enjoy what they do.”

Orquestando includes almost 40 students, some of them with intellectual impairment and autism. They are part of this pilot program which has achieved positive results due to its inclusive approach.    To the beat of the Peruvian cajón, the organ and the guitar they perform and receive applause in recognition of their effort and dedication. They are Peru’s finest!

Bazalar competed in the 100-meter hurdles, where she set a new record clocking a time of 13s25c.

The previous record also belonged to Diana Bazalar, who clocked a time of 13s36c at the South American Games in Cochabamba on June 6, 2018, and won the silver medal at the tournament.

SWIMMING IS ONE OF THE MOST EXCITING COMPETITIONS IN THE LIMA 2019 GAMES

Descripción

To reach the top of the Pan American Games sometimes you must challenge yourself. This was mostly true in swimming, where the high expectation caused by the competition level of the American and Canadian teams made Brazilians to surpass themselves and fight for a place in the medal table.

It is the case of the Brazilian athlete Leonardo de Deus, three-time Pan American champion in the 200 m butterfly event. He randomly entered the final list in the continental multi-sport event, as the suspension of Gabriel Silva for doping gave him the chance to make history with his team.

Léo de Deus is proud of his military origin as sergeant of the Army of his country. This explains the martial salute he made to his flag at the award ceremony, as did by his teammate Joao Gomes, who competed for hist first Pan American Games, at the age of 33, and conquered the 100 m breaststroke.

Another elite member is Pedro Henrique Spajari, who destroyed the Pan American record with his team in the 4x100 m freestyle relay and defeated the American team lead by Nathan Adrian, multiple times Olympic and world medalist. Spajari overcame a rare syndrome that affected his motor functions when he was 20. As a sergeant of the Brazilian air force, he sang with honor the anthem of his country, from the top of the podium.

“Winning my first gold medal in this kind of competition is really special. We prepared a lot to win this qualification to the Olympic Games, in my case, by overcoming personal problems. In addition, I am proud of representing the Armed Forces of my country because it helped me a lot in my life,” he said.

The first day of swimming was important for Peru too, for the new Peruvian records set by Paula Tamashiro (100 m breaststroke, set in 2008) and Samantha Bello (400 m freestyle). In addition, fans enjoyed Silvana Cabrera´s victory in the 200 m butterfly B final.

Once again, the Pan American Games staged incredible stories of overcoming challenges, stories are a living life lessons for spectators witnessing the achievements of these athletes.

EXCITING SOUTH AMERICAN CLASSIC MATCH IN TABLE TENNIS

Hundredths of a second separated the Mexican athlete, Fernando Martínez, from his opponents in the heart-stopping final for the 5000 meters, on the third day of the emblematic sport: athletics.

At the beginning, Martínez was behind the representatives of Colombia, Peru, Bolivia and Brazil, who were leading the competition during the first four laps of this exhausting race. However, the cheers of the Mexican public gave him strength and allowed him to take the lead and surpass his rivals, in the last stretch, only for a few seconds.

After winning the gold medal, with a time of 13 minutes, 53 seconds and 87 hundredths, the long-distance runner approached the grandstands, where he was praised by the fans.

Ecstatic by this remarkable triumph, he celebrated to the rhythm of the traditional rancheras, putting on the hat of the Mexican mariachis.

Imitating the characteristic movements of this recognized manifestation of Aztec folklore, he said goodbye to the public gathered at the Athletics Stadium in the National Sports Village.

The Mexican athlete shared the podium with Brazilian Altobeli Santos Da Silva, who made a total time of 13 minutes, 54 seconds and 42 hundredths; and with Chilean Carlos Díaz del Río, who finished at 13 minutes, 54 seconds and 43 hundredths.
