Sport review
Wheelchair tennis was invented in the US in 1976. This sport made its debut in the Paralympic program as an exhibition sport in Seoul 1988 and as an official sport in the Barcelona 1992 Paralympic Games. Its debut in the Parapan American Games was in Mar del Plata 2003.
This Para sport combines agility, power and endurance, along with mental resilience. It also follows the rules of tennis with one key exception: the ball is allowed to bounce twice, and the second bounce can be inside or outside of the court.
