Sport review
Para athletes with physical impairments demonstrate great balance, control and accuracy in this Para sport. Both rifle and pistol events are held, and contestants may shoot from various positions: standing, prone, or from a chair. Some classes allow the use of firearm support.
It has been a part of the Paralympic program since Toronto 1967. It was one of three Para sports to make its debut in the Lima 2019 Parapan American Games, along with Para badminton and Para taekwondo.
