Sitting Volleyball
William Morgan developed this Para sport in the US in 1895. Sitting volleyball made its debut in the Arnhem 1980 Paralympic Games for men’s, and in Athens 2004 for women’s. As for the Parapan American Games, it made its debut in Rio 2007.
Sitting volleyball is a Para sport whose objective is similar to volleyball: hit the ball over the net and land it in the opposing team’s court. The athlete’s buttocks must remain in contact with the floor at all times when handling the ball.
