Taekwondo
Taekwondo was born in Korea over two thousand years ago. In this martial art, each bout consists of three rounds of two minutes.
- Kyorugi
It is basically a hand-to-hand combat between two people where they exchange kicks and punching techniques, the objective is to gain the most amount of points by hitting the permitted zones
Athletes are called to compete and a physical inspection of the uniforms and protective equipment is carried out. They enter an octagonal area of 8 by 8 meters and are called by a central judge. The Kyorugi events will be held in three rounds.
- Poomsae
This discipline is a set sequence of movements that includes attack and defense techniques, performed in different order simulating an imaginary fight. Poomsae shows the essence and art of taekwondo.
Poomsae competitions will be held for the first time at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games. This discipline will include individual, pairs and team events, which will be evaluated based on the technique, energy expression, strength, harmony and speed.
