Thanks to his great performance in the Lima 2019 Sixth Parapan American Games, Jaime Regalado, goalkeeper of the Peruvian football-7-a-side team, traveled to Spain to be a part of the Levante Club. This marks a milestone for Peru as he is the first Peruvian Para athlete to play for a foreign team.

“Lima 2019 helped us gain experience,” said Jaime Regalado, starting goalkeeper of the Peruvian football-7-a-side team (for athletes with cerebral palsy), who is now taking on a new challenge in his sports career. This is the first time a Peruvian player of this classification signs for an international team.

The president of ANPPERÚ, Lucha Villar, wished Jaime Regalado the utmost success. “He’s a very talented young man who, today, also becomes the ambassador of the Peruvian Para sports movement. We are very proud of him becoming the first Peruvian athlete to play abroad and, who knows, he may be opening the door so that more Peruvian athletes can do the same in the future,” said the head of the National Paralympic Association of Peru.

Jaime Regalado was able to show his skills during the Parapan American Games by being one of the pillars of the Peruvian team that competed at the Villa María del Triunfo Sports Center.
