LUIS BARDALEZ WINS THE BRONZE IN WEIGHTLIFTING
The athlete lifted a total of 291 kg
The fans at the Mariscal Cáceres Coliseum applauded the young Peruvian weightlifter Luis Bardalez, who added a new medal for his country at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games.
Bardalez won the bronze medal in the 67 kg category after lifting 167 kg in snatch and 164 kg in clean and jerk, for a total of 291 kg.
The Mexican Jonathan Muñoz won the gold with a score of 306 kg, while Edgar Pineda from Guatemala took the silver home with a total of 297 kg.
In this way, Peru reclaims its rightful position as the host country by adding another medal to the national historic medal table, in one of the toughest competitions of the Games, where 126 athletes of 21 delegations are participating.
The weightlifting tournament continues tomorrow on the same stage at Chorrillos.
