LIMA 2019: TOP PERUVIAN ATHLETES TO ATTEND TORCH LIGHTNING IN LIMA

The official spokesperson of the Pan American Games, Carlos Manuel Lazarte, informed that top Peruvian athletes will participate in the last stretch of the torch lightning before the Opening Ceremony of the Pan American Games, to he held at the National Stadium in Lima.

“I don’t want to give away the name of the person in charge of lighting the torch. We want to keep the surprise factor until the last moment. But, this person is an outstanding national athlete,” he said without revealing who will light the Pan American cauldron.

At the first official Games press conference, Lazarte pointed out that the tickets for the competitions of the Pan American and Parapan American Games are selling like hot cakes and added that 250 thousand tickets have been sold until now.

“In the last days, over a quarter of a million tickets have been sold. All the Opening Ceremony tickets are sold out. We’re happy because the excitement and expectations in the country are really high,” he explained.

“Everyone is excited for the Games, and so is the Panam Sports Execute Committee. These Games will be a success, and I hope everyone can enjoy them,” concluded Lazarte.

The Lima 2019 Pan American Games will open this Friday, July 26 at 18:00, and the celebration concert will be led by the Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi, Juan Diego Flórez, and over 17,000 Peruvian artists. The National Stadium is expected to be packed.
