Find out more about some of the athletes that qualified for Tokyo 2020 due to their performance at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games.
The sporting event hosted by Lima 2019 for more than two weeks still lingers in our memory and undoubtedly the ones that remember it more fondly are the athletes that qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games after their victories at the Pan American Games.

1. Delfina Pignatiello
The Lima 2019 most outstanding athlete was the Argentinian swimmer, who return home with 3 gold medals. She only has 19 years old and her sport story has just began and promises many more medals. We are all excited about her performance in the Olympic pool at VIDENA.
2. Brazil women’s national handball team
Brazil won its five games in the Sports Center 1 at VIDENA (always with a 9goal difference as a minimum). In the final, Brazil defeated his longtime rival, Argentina, and secured its ticket to next year’s Olympic Games. Go, Brazil!
3. Mariana Arceo
This pentathlete from Mexico made history by winning the first gold medal of her country in this sport during the Pan American Games and, after defeating more than 30 rivals, she won her ticket to the Land of the Rising Sun.
4. USA men’s national water polo team
Team USA beat Canada 18-6 in the final, winning its seventh straight gold medal at the Pan American Games and securing its participation at Tokyo 2020 in the category of water polo.
5. Ignacio Montesinos
The Chilean rider landed in 14 place in the final of jumping individual with a score of 63.93. Ignacio and “Cornet Boy”, his horse, are getting ready to make the most out of theirparticipation in the Olympic competition next year.
6. Nicolás Pacheco
At his 24 years old, he became the third Peruvian shooter to qualify for Tokyo 2020. Its bronze medal in skeet shooting ensured his qualification. Nico, Marko Carillo and Alessandro de Souza are preparing their bags. We hope they do not have problems for carrying weapons in the plane. ?
7. Daniel Restrepo
This diver already made history in his countryby winning the first medal in swimming for Colombia. At his 18 years old, he is the best in 3-meter trampoline and dreams of participating in the world’s most important sporting event. Hooray, Dani!
8. Adriana Díaz
The table tennis player from Puerto Rico became the new Pan American champion at her 18 years old and will participate again at the Olympic Games (she made her debut at Rio 2016 at age 15) after defeating 4-1 USA's rival, Yue Wu, in the final.
