Delfina Pignatiello exceeded her goals in her debut at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games and won the gold in the 400 m freestyle event.
BUT WHO IS Delfina?
She is, without a doubt, one of the best Argentinians swimmers of all times. And she is only 19.
Delfina wakes up every day at five in the morning to train in the first shift. She has a demanding routine that only a responsible, disciplined athlete with clear objectives and great expectations can undertake.
She started swimming when she was 12. She participated in three world championships, two in the U20 category (2015, 2017) and one senior championship (2016). In 2016 she broke the Argentinian 800 m freestyle record. In the same year, she placed sixth at the World Swimming Championships (25m).
In 2017, she participated in the World Junior Swimming Championships held in Indianapolis, United States, where she was crowned two-times champion in the 800 m and 1500 m events. In addition, she won silver in the 400 m event.
At the 2017 South American Youth Games, held in Santiago de Chile, she was the flag bearer of the delegation and won three gold, three silver and two bronze medals.In addition, she won two silver medals at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in the 800 m and 400 m freestyle events. Now, at the 2019 Pan American Games, she won gold in the 400 m freestyle competition!
