The Athletes' Village will be built in a 44 ha area and its 92 apartments will be the residence of the technical staff and 9,000 athletes. It will have green and leisure areas. Quite a legacy for the population of southern Lima. The modern Athletes' Village will have 1,096 apartments and is one of the most important construction works for Lima 2019. This apartment complex will remain as a legacy for the hardworking district of Villa El Salvador, benefiting over a thousand Peruvian families. It will consist of seven tours of 19 and 20 floors, with eight apartments per floor, and its construction is under the responsibility of the Besco-Besalco Consortium. The unveiling of the structure of the first four towers is scheduled for April 2018 and the remaining three towers are expected by August of this year. Afterwards, the project will enter its finishing works stage. The Athletes' Village will host approximately 10,000 athletes and technical officials during the Lima 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Games. As part of the legacy that Lima 2019 will leave to the city, the Peruvian government is currently making financial transfers, through the Ministry of Transport and Communications, to the local governments for over PEN 500 million in order to carry out 16 road infrastructure works, which will connect the Athletes' Village with the different sports venues. Moreover, the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation also promotes the improvement of the urban setting near the Athletes' Village and in 2018, it will finance approximately PEN 50 million for the execution of construction works in the Los Algarrobos, Separadora Agroindustrial, La Jojoba and Los Forestales avenues in the district of Villa El Salvador.
