The general trainings for the Lima 2019 Games Volunteer Program are being held in Lima and in different cities of Peru within the framework of training and recruitment process of 19,000 volunteers for the Lima 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Games.
These trainings will take place in Arequipa, Northern and Southern Lima this weekend.
The Training Process is carried out together with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), an entity that develops training actions in support of Lima 2019, aimed at strengthening the skills of the participants in order to contribute to successfully carry out their role in the Games.
In Arequipa and Lima
In Arequipa, the general trainings will be held on Saturday November 3 and on Sunday November 4 at Technological University of Peru (UTP) (Tacna y Arica Av. No. 160) from 8:00 to 12:00 or from 14:00 to 18:00.
It should be noted that in Arequipa, alternatives for the mobilization of volunteers will be disseminated and promoted through the strengthening of strategic alliances with universities and institutes such as National University of San Agustín (UNSA), San Pablo Catholic University (UCSP), Montessori Institute, and UTP.
In Lima, the general trainings will be held on Saturday 3 at the César Vallejo University (UCV) (Alfredo Mendiola Av. No. 6232, Panamericana Norte, Los Olivos), from 7:00 to 12:00 or in the afternoon from 14:00 to 18:00 and on Sunday, November 4 at the University of Applied Sciences (UPC) (Alameda San Marcos Av., block 2, Villa, Chorrillos) from 7:00 to 12:00 or in the afternoon from 14:00 to 18:00.
Lima 2019 Volunteer Training Program
The general trainings are part of the Training Program, whose purpose is to turn the volunteer into an agent of positive change in our society by strengthening their skills and competencies, both personal and professional.
The trainings will take place in Lima, Callao, Cusco, Chiclayo, Trujillo, Cajamarca, Huancayo, Tacna, Arequipa, Tarapoto, Ica, Cañete and Pisco.
This training experience will include around 20 class hours, between on-site and virtual trainings. On-site training will be carried out in several educational centers in Lima and other cities of the country, according to the schedule to be published in the Volunteer Portal on the web page www.lima2019.pe/voluntariado.
The Training program will be taught to 40,000 volunteer applicants. The Volunteer Program registrations started on September 11 and will be opened until December 31, 2019.
It should be noted that after the registration there are four phases in the Lima 2019 Training Process: general on-site training, virtual general training, virtual specific training and specific training in venues. The registrations started in September 2018; the trainings in October 2018 and it is planned to finish in July 2019, which requires the volunteer commitment throughout this process.
To participate in the trainings, people must register in the Volunteer Portal: www.lima2019.pe/voluntariado/inscripciones; complete their form and submit it, so they access the selection of the training venue of their choice.
To become a volunteer, you only need to be over 16 years old by April 1, 2019. Be available at least 8 days, not necessarily consecutive days. You must be friendly, proactive and work in teams. The Lima 2019 Volunteer Program will promote a unique and unprecedented experience in our country since it is the first time that Lima will host the largest multisports event in the Americas.
Likewise, there are several functional departments where volunteers can be assigned to such as accreditation, accommodation, arrivals and departures, transportation, medical services, doping control, spectators service, press operations, protocol, sports, information technology, uniforms, workforce, marketing, among others.
The Lima 2019 volunteers will enjoy benefits since it is a training process offered together with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS). Volunteers will receive a certification of their training and participation, uniform, accreditation, meals according to shifts, as well as, accident insurance, national and international contact network, and the opportunity to live a unique experience.
