The coach of the Peruvian team said that he feels quite optimistic and believes that the Peruvian volleyball players will achieve their best level to compete in the Lima 2019 Pan American Games.
Hervás was a member of the delegation that visited the new Callao Sports Center, volleyball venue for the Lima 2019 Games.
Francisco Hervás, coach of the Peruvian volleyball team, considered that the progress in the construction works of the new Callao Sports Center is significant and is the best motivation for the volleyball team members to show their best at the Lima 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Games.
It’s very exciting to visit the facilities of the venue for volleyball during the Lima 2019 Games. This is the first step to achieve the dream of every Peruvian athlete, which is to represent Peru in these Pan American Games,” said Hervás who took over as coach of the team at the end of August.
Francisco Hervás stressed that one of the main objectives of his work plan as coach of the women's volleyball team includes giving the best performance at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games and then seeking to qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
“The women's volleyball team will show that they meet the expectations of all Peruvians during the Lima 2019 Games. This first tour to see the construction work progress in Callao is an exploratory inspection of the Olympic coliseum, where we’ll our all,” he said.
The new Sports Center in Callao will be built in the venue for men’s and women’s volleyball and taekwondo, as well as sitting volleyball and Para taekwondo during the Pan American and Parapan American Games.
This new Sports Center will have a capacity for over 6000 people and will become one of the great legacies of the Lima 2019 Games, making Callao an important hub of sports development in the country.
Coach Hervás explained that the women's team is training hard for the Lima 2019 Games and although he has been in the team for a short time, he is confident that the team will be strengthened in the coming months.
"I feel quite optimistic because I believe that the girls have the level to compete in the Pan American Games, one of the most important sporting events in the world. The team players are very excited to represent Peru in their country,” he said.
In that sense, the coach explained that his goal is to implement a competitive project with the highest expectations for the Lima 2019 Games. The team will begin to fully work once players finish the season of the volleyball leagues by March. This date will match with the completion of the works in Callao.
"From that time, we’ll start the arrangements to train in the new venue in Callao. We’ll work so that the girls reach their highest performance level and to strengthen the team for Lima 2019,” he concluded.
