Lima 2019 is getting ready to welcome the best bodybuilders from Latin America and the Americas during the XVIII edition of the Pan American Games.
Bodybuilding is a type of sport based on intense physical exercise (mainly anaerobic), which most of the time consists in lifting weights. It usually takes place in gyms and the purpose is to obtain a body as defined, voluminous and muscularly proportionate as possible.
Bodybuilding will make its Pan American debut at Lima 2019. The Peruvian team has multiple achievements and each athlete plays a special role in the rise of our country in this sport.
The first historical references show this sport began in the classical Greece, where the human body had an important cultural relevance. Bodybuilding became more popular in the 1950s and 1960s due to the invention of more sophisticated gym equipment, the incorporation of gymnastics champions and the simultaneous dissemination of muscle-building exercises.
